Vintage 11 Key Kalimba Thumb Piano Wood Gourd Style Resonator Folk Instrument

Unusual 11-key kalimba or thumb piano featuring a rounded, irregular hollow resonating body with a wood soundboard and 11 graduated metal tines. The instrument has a circular sound hole in the top plus openings in two sides of the resonator. Metal tines are mounted over a dark wood bridge and secured beneath a metal bar with two slotted screws. A long leather cord/strap is attached. Warm honey-brown finish with a simple handcrafted folk-art appearance. The rounded resonator resembles natural gourd construction, but the exact material has not been verified, so it is being described as gourd-style. No maker's mark or country-of-origin marking found. Approximate maximum dimensions: 8 long x 6.5 wide x 5 deep at the thickest point. Because of the rounded, irregular shape, measurements are approximate. Leather cord is not included in measurements.  Pre-owned with signs of age and use. Scratches, marks, discoloration or finish wear may be present. Metal tines and hardware have dulling/patina consistent with age. Leather cord shows wear. Tuning and musical accuracy have not been tested.
